Shanghai Chipanalog Microelectronics Co., Ltd Obtains TÜV Rheinland ISO 26262 Automotive Functional Safety Management System Certification

On September 14th, 2022, TÜV Rheinland, an international independent third-party testing, inspection, and certification body in Greater China (referred to as "TÜV Rheinland"), awarded the ISO 26262 Automotive Functional Safety Management System ASIL D certification to Shanghai Chipanalog Microelectronics Co., Ltd (referred to as "Chipanalog").

The issuance of this certification marks another milestone event following the AEC-Q100 certification obtained in December 2021. It signifies that Chipanalog has established a complete chip product development process and functional safety management system that meets the requirements of ISO 26262:2018 and the highest level of automotive functional safety, ASIL D. This is of great significance in promoting the standardization process of semiconductor technology in the automotive electronics field.

The ISO 26262 standard is a globally recognized automotive functional safety standard that evaluates the entire lifecycle of a product, from requirements, concept design, software design, hardware design, to final production and operation. It imposes strict requirements to ensure that electronic and electrical related functional failures do not pose safety risks.

Moreover, the standard divides the safety requirements of systems or system components into four levels from A to D based on the degree of safety risk, namely the Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL). The higher the safety risk level, the higher the requirements for the system software and hardware development process. ISO 26262 has now become one of the recognized compliance thresholds in the industry.

The CTO of Chipanalog stated that the company has adhered to the philosophy of "safety is managed" since its inception and continuously promoted close cooperation with TÜV Rheinland. The passing of the functional safety management certification also demonstrates the company's determination to pursue product quality. In the future, Chipanalog will continue to focus on high-security and high-reliability products, contributing its technical strength to the "new four modernizations" of the automotive industry.
